Drawing from life, or from models, in poses ranging from one minute to three hours allows me to continually explore the forms, structural anatomy, and rhythms of the human body which, in turn, translates into solid draftsmanship no matter the subject or concept. (When traveling, sketching sculptures in museums substitutes well for obviously revelatory reasons.) Drawing from life actually allows me to work increasingly—and liberatingly—from imagination.
